Photo Duly Signed by the Candidate

Exam and admission notices often ask for a photograph duly signed by the candidate. That means your own signature on the photo itself. Sign it here and download it at the size the form allows.

Sign your photo for the form

  1. Choose a recent photoFront-facing, plain light background, no cap or dark glasses.
  2. Add your signatureDraw it with your finger, upload a photo of it, or reuse the one saved on this device.
  3. Keep it below the chinDrag the signature onto the shirt area. Make it smaller if it touches the face.
  4. Download at the form sizeCheck the pixels and KB under the preview against the notice.

Duly signed vs. self attested vs. attested

WordingWho signsWhat goes on the photo
Duly signed by the candidateYouYour signature only
Self attested photographYou“Self Attested”, signature and usually the date
Attested by a gazetted officerThe officerOfficer’s signature and seal. You cannot do this yourself.

If your notice says “self attested”, use the self attested photo maker instead, which adds the words and the date. Paper forms that ask you to paste the photo are covered in affix signed passport size photograph.

Before you upload

  • Open the downloaded file and zoom in: the signature should be readable, not a smudge.
  • Compare the KB and pixel size with the notice. Re-export with another preset if it does not match.
  • Keep the original unsigned photo too; some forms ask for both.

Questions

What does “duly signed” mean?

Signed properly, by the right person. “Duly signed by the candidate” means you, the applicant, must sign it yourself. A parent, teacher or cyber café operator signing for you does not count.

Is this the same as the separate signature upload?

No. Many exam forms ask for two things: a signature image on its own, and a photo that also carries your signature. This page covers the photo. For the signature image, use the signature resize tool.

Can I sign the photo digitally instead of on paper?

For online forms, a signature drawn on the photo with your finger is the practical way, and it is what most applicants do. If the notice asks for a scan of a printed photo signed in ink, sign the print and scan it instead.

What if the signature on the photo does not match my other signature?

Mismatched signatures are a common reason for rejection at document verification. Use the same signature as on the form and the separate signature upload. Saving your signature in the tool helps keep them identical.

Should the date be on the photo?

Only if the notice says so. Some forms want the date the photo was taken printed on it; others want nothing but the signature. When unsure, follow the sample photo in the notice.
