What a good self attested photo looks like
- The face is fully visible; the signature sits on the shirt or background below the chin.
- “Self Attested”, the signature and the date read clearly at the final size. Check the preview at 100%.
- The signature matches the one you use on the rest of the application.
- The photo is recent and in colour unless the form asks for black and white.
Signing a copy of an ID or certificate instead of a photo? Use the self attested photocopy for single pages or the self attested document maker for multi-page PDFs.
When the form uses different words
- Pasting a printed photo on a paper form: affix signed passport size photograph shows where the signature goes.
- “Duly signed by the candidate”: your signature only, explained in photo duly signed by the candidate.
- ID proof as a passbook: the bank attests that photo, not you. See bank passbook with duly attested photograph.
Questions
Is my photo uploaded anywhere?
No. The photo, your signature, name and date are processed by your own browser. Nothing is sent to our server, and closing the tab removes everything except a signature you chose to remember on this device.
Should the signature be in blue or black ink?
Most Indian forms do not say. Blue is the usual choice because it shows the copy was signed by hand and is not a photocopy of an older signature. If your form or office asks for black, switch the ink before you download.
Where should the signature go on a self attested photo?
Across the lower part of the photo, below the chin, so it never covers the face. On a printed photo stuck to a form, people sign half on the photo and half on the paper. For an upload, keep everything inside the photo; this maker places it there by default.
Can I write “Self Attested” in Hindi?
Yes. Tap स्व-सत्यापित to add the Hindi wording in the same handwriting style. Use it when the form or office works in Hindi; most central government and national exam forms accept either language.
Which date format should I write?
DD-MM-YYYY, the format used on most Indian application forms, is filled in for you with today’s date. You can type a different date or format in the Date box.
My form wants 20–50 KB but the file comes out smaller. What now?
A very plain photo can compress below the minimum even at full quality. Pick a larger size, such as 3.5 × 4.5 cm, or retake the photo in better light. The tool never pads files with hidden data to hit a size.
Can I make one on my phone?
Yes. The maker is built for phones first: take or choose a photo, sign with your finger, and the file downloads straight to your phone, ready to upload.
